Designed to assist heating engineers in the safe installation, commissioning and servicing of boilers and combustion systems, Telegan’s Sprint V range provides five instruments in one small, convenient handheld unit: a flue gas analyser, a differential thermometer, a differential manometer, a gas escape detector and a carbon monoxide room safety monitor. The Sprint V is manufactured and distributed by Telegan Gas Monitoring, a division of Crowcon Detection Instruments, and is distributed in the UK through Telegan’s exclusive industry partner, Anton Industrial Services.
In an effort to reduce environmental pollution, the European Union has established certain rules about emissions from heavy and light goods vehicles. One method adopted by vehicle manufacturers to allow compliance is SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction), which chemically reduces NOx-emissions by combining an aqueous urea solution (AUS) such as Adblue® with the exhaust flow.
Performance of gaseous oxygen measurement is now redefined with METTLER TOLEDO’s amperometric systems. They not only allow reliable and stable measurement, they are inexpensive to maintain and can be installed without a gas sampling system.
TÜV and MCERTS approvals enable operators to meet latest emission monitoring requirements
Emerson Process Management has gained UK MCERTS approval for its Rosemount® Analytical X-STREAM® range of zirconium oxide in situ oxygen analysers. The analysers are used to measure the residual oxygen remaining in the flue gases from any combustion process. The certificate was issued by Sira, who operate the MCERTS scheme in England and Wales on behalf of the Environment Agency.
To simplify quality assurance and UVA Protection Factor analysis for the development and testing of sunscreen and cosmetics using Labsphere’s UV-2000s transmittance analyzer, the company has introduced the UV2000S Sample Preparation Starter Kit. The kit brings together all the tools needed to prepare the correct in-vitro sunscreen sample common to Boot Star, COLIPA, FDA, and user-defined SPF measurement methods.
Grundfos Alldos have recently launched its latest disinfection system, the Oxiperm Pro chlorine dioxide generator, ideal for combating unwanted micro organisms in drinking water treatment or the disinfection of process water in the food and beverage industry.
Luminescent materials are extremely important components in many applications including solid state lighting and medical imaging and diagnostic systems. To measure the quantum efficiency of these critical materials, Labsphere, in partnership with Photal Otsuka Electronics, has developed the QE-1000. By employing the companies’ patented HalfMoon integrating hemisphere, the QE-1000 measures both liquid and solid samples with very high accuracy and reproducibility. The system allows excitation across a broad spectrum of 250-700nm and detection from 240-800nm. The QE-1000 will debut during Photonics West 2010 at Labsphere’s booth, 1437. Photonics West will be held 23 - 28 January 2010 at The Moscone Center, San Francisco, California, USA
Measure chlorine levels in potable and process water
The Chlorosense testing device from Palintest Ltd. makes use of a completely new methodology for water analysis, utilising electrochemical sensors instead of traditional chemical reagents to measure chlorine levels in potable and process water. The portable, battery-powered device has now been approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), following an expedited approval process (ref: 74 FR 57908, pub. Nov 10, 2009).
The new ‘Pharma option 3: Parsum View’ user interface for the Parsum IPP 70 in-line particle size measurement probe, available from Malvern Instruments, simplifies the system’s use as a PAT (Process Analytical Technology) tool for continuous monitoring of granulation, spray drying and fluidised bed operations, for example. Parsum View is designed specifically to fulfil GMP requirements for pharmaceutical production. It can be supplied alone or in combination with pharma option 1- verification kit for checking measurement accuracy, and 2- material traceability, a unit with highly polished contact surfaces supplied with material traceability documentation.
Process Analyzer / multipurpose wet chemical analyzer
The Applikon Analytical ADI 2040 Process Analyzer is a multipurpose wet chemical analyzer, that has been designed to offer flexibility and withstand the harshest environments. It makes use of proven analytical techniques, like titration, colorimetry and dynamic standard addition with ion selective electrodes.
Rapid and accurate identification and quantification of pesticides in rice
A world leader in serving science, today announced a new method that enables rapid and accurate identification and quantification of pesticides in rice. The QuEChERS (Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged and Safe) extraction method takes advantage of a trap mass spectrometer and the FOCUS GC gas chromatograph to increase speed and improve sample preparation The application note describing the method, entitled "Multi-residue Pesticide Analysis in Rice by a Modified QuEChERS Extraction and Ion Trap GC/MSn Analysis," is available to download via the applications focus area.
