Particle size analysis of raw materials is often a necessary but routine task where speed and efficiency are critical to decision-making and the smooth operation of a manufacturing process. The Mastersizer 3000 from Malvern Instruments supports improved productivity through fast, fully automated measurement and cleaning, combined with instrument and data analysis software that streamlines every aspect of the instrument’s use. In-built intelligence supports each measurement, from the outset through to a successful conclusion. The result is robust and reliable data produced with ease and efficiency and minimal operator input.
Environmental monitoring equipment specialist Quantitech has announced the launch of a new generation of automatic isokinetic samplers that bring new levels of speed, accuracy and reliability to the sampling of particulates and gases from chimneys, stacks and ducts.
The analytical system uses high quality Metrohm analysis modules like the Titrando range of titrators. Combining Metrohm’ s knowledge and experience in laboratory analysis and Appleton’s experience in process control instrumentation results in an analyser that can perform nearly every On-line or At-line wet chemical analysis in the most difficult environments.
International Innovative Technologies (IIT, Gateshead, UK) is working in partnership with Malvern Instruments to incorporate new in-line particle size distribution analysis systems in its specialist low energy milling equipment.
In light of increasing environmental legislation and the cost pressures that waste to energy and biomass plants face, Siemens Industry Automation & Drive Technologies (IA&DT) has bolstered its portfolio of emissions monitoring solutions, with integration at the heart of its offering.

By streamlining method development, automating measurement and continuously verifying data quality, the new Mastersizer 3000 laser diffraction particle size analyzer from Malvern Instruments provides R&D scientists with the high degree of flexibility and responsiveness needed to drive efficient, cost-effective product and process development.
Instrumentation specialist Quantitech has supplied the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) with a range of the latest environmental monitoring technologies that will be used by the Airborne Hazards Emergency Response (AHER) service to improve the provision of information about airborne hazards during a significant incident such as an explosion or a major fire. This will allow NHS Scotland and the emergency services to assess the potential risks to human health and mitigate them.
~ OGP launches the SmartScope CNC 670 in the UK and Europe ~
OGP, the Derbyshire based supplier of coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) for smart metrology, has launched the CNC 670 multisensor smartscope system in the UK and Europe. The new machine is the biggest in the company’s range to date and its impressive XYZ range means it’s even capable of measuring components as large as an automotive engine block. Despite its remarkable size, the intelligent use of space in the mechanical design of the system means it retains a relatively small footprint.
Uses HEPA Filtration, Operates without Compressed Air
Camfil Farr Air Pollution Control (APC) has introduced a pulse-cleaned industrial vacuum with dual-stage HEPA filtration that drastically minimizes clogs, preventing the problems that result from loss of suction during cleaning. Called the FarrVac Junior, it uses a patented pulse-cleaning technology that works without compressed air. Filters are cleaned every 10 seconds, preventing clogging. The unit may be used for everyday shop cleanup or as an accessory to an installed dust collector when replacing or emptying dust drawers or drums.
At its production site at Heming, France, Holcim, one of the world’s leading cement producers, is using an Insitec on-line particle size analyzer from Malvern Instruments, to optimize the grinding circuits that mill the finished cement. By continuously monitoring two parallel production lines, the Insitec supplies the data needed to optimize throughput and at the same time produce cement of the highest quality.
