The Niton XL3t handheld XRF analyser, now available in its latest GOLDD edition has recently been awarded a good design award by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture in association with the European Centre for Architecture Art, Design & Urban Studies. This award is particularly prestigious as it is the world’s oldest design competition of its kind.

As a result, the Niton instrument will join five hundred others from 34 different countries in being recognised with this award. Examples of the products are now on display in the Chicago Athenaeum Museum. The Niton XL3t, developed by Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc in the USA, was selected by an international jury of design professionals, architects, experts and cultural leaders from products designed and/or manufactured between 2006 and 2008. The award complements an R&D 100 award for technological innovation and a Gold IDEA (Industrial Design Excellence Award) also received by the Niton XL3t analyser.
