Casella Measurement’s competence extends from instrumentation for workplace risk assessments and health surveillance including noise, dust, gas, VOCs and indoor air quality to system capability for the natural environment and process applications such as the monitoring and analysis of industrial airborne emissions and ambient air quality including gases such as BTEX, VOCs and particulates. Recent distribution agreements have added new capabilities and application capability with portable FIDs and GCs from Photovac and fixed GC systems from Chromatotec. Workplace applications are served by the Casella CEL brand while the natural environment/process applications comes under newly formed Casella Monitor.
Workplace Monitoring
Noise
Noise instruments for either monitoring workplace or environmental noise. Noise is monitored in the workplace to protect an employee from hearing loss. This can be done by personally worn products (dosimeters) or hand held sound level meters. The selection of the required hearing protection can also be performed via the use of these instruments.
Air Sampling
Range of personal air sampling pumps and accessories for undertaking personal exposure monitoring of airbourne dusts, fumes vapour and solvents in accordance with national government health and safety legislation and guidelines. All pumps are fully accredited for use for sampling and undertaking risk assessments to HSE-MDHS, EH40, NIOSH and other national sampling methodologies.

Heat Stress (WBGT)
‘WBGT’ is an internationally recognized standardised method for measuring an individual’s exposure to excessive heat stress, originally developed by the US Marine Corps. Any workplace where risk of exposure to high temperature can be expected should utilize suitable equipment to monitor their staff’s exposure. Examples include bakeries, foundries, cement factories and increasingly, sporting activities.

Natural Environment
Noise
Environmental noise is unwanted or harmful outdoor sound created by human activities, including noise emitted by means of transport - road traffic, rail traffic, air traffic - and from sites of industrial activity. It is monitored to prevent and reduce it’s impact on the environment, including human life.
Air Quality Monitoring
Many applications exist where there is a requirement for monitoring ambient or outdoor air quality with respect of Particulates (PM10, PM2.5) gases and solvents or Polyaromatic Hydrocarbons PAH’s. Local and national governments often establish regional or national networks of monitoring stations, whilst industrial processes such as landfill, construction / demolition operations may require monitoring data to evaluate their impact on the local environment. Systems come in a variety of enclosures and configurations and may be located on site boundaries, by roadsides for traffic pollution monitoring, or in rural locations to establish background pollution levels.
