Job Description:

DevOps Engineer - AWS/Linux/Automation/Java/Scripting

*Can accommodate notice period's of up to 3 months*

A PureTech Talent client urgently requires a mid-level DevOps consultant with circa 2 years of experience building and maintaining production systems within AWS. A seriously hot opportunity for a growing Big Data business we deal with in Central London (Zone 1).

Key skills and Background:

  • 5+ years of commercial experience in DevOps/Cloud Infrastructure roles with 2+ years of experience building and maintaining production systems in AWS, utilising tools such as EC2, RDS, IAM, VPC, Route53, ELB, S3, Elastic Beanstalk, SQS etc., and interacting with AWS API's.
  • Experience administering Linux systems.
  • Good Scripting skills - Java, Python, Ruby, Bash and PowerShell all considered.
  • Cloud automation experience using CloudFormation, Terraform, or equivalent and a passion to automate everything that is not an ad-hoc task would be a huge plus.
  • Exposure to Objected Oriented Programming (ideally Java but C#, Python and Ruby will be considered) and working in a Microservices architecture environment would also be very handy, as would being AWS certified.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills.

About the role:

  • Working closely with their Senior DevOps specialist, your immediate tasks will be to create a secure, scalable, efficient and performant cloud architecture. You will also be involved in the creation, automation and maintenance of their live, staging, QA and development environments.
  • Thereafter, you will work with the CxO team to optimize infrastructure costs, review their infrastructure security (network security etc) and disaster recovery backup processes, ensuring best practices are fully adhered to.
  • Longer term, you will become the go-to person for all things AWS (helping developers with their infrastructure needs) and DevOps (educating the team on best practices & DevOps culture) as well as owning the Infrastructure budget and providing IT support as and where necessary.

This is truly a fantastic opportunity for any mid-level DevOps specialist looking to take a step up into a senior and ultimately a managerial position with an exciting, forward thinking data driven organisation.

My client is looking for the right candidate to start immediately and is currently in the process of reviewing CV's. To apply, please submit your CV or contact Ken Acar immediately.
