Phil has been editor of PII for some 15 years, prior to this he worked as an engineering consultant.
Although his background experience is essentially in the area of engineering maintenance his understanding of the various process disciplines is considerable and it is this knowledge that has enabled him to prepare and commission the wealth of generic articles that Process Industry Informer is recognised for.
Phil’s enthusiasm for producing a magazine that has interest and benefit to “all of its readers all of the time” is clearly evident when speaking with those who proffer material for consideration and to those that he, in turn, request articles from.
The manufacturing process industry embraces numerous industries, industries such as Food & Beverage, Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Paper & Pulp, Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Plastics & Rubber, Water – Wastewater & Recycling, Metals and Minerals are just some examples.
Between these organisation and other areas of manufacturing they have a need for a great variety of products & services in order to maintain their manufacturing plant and to ensure safety for their employees, the environment and the local inhabitants and of course to retain the competitive edge.
Bearing this in mind Phil see his responsibility as being that of bringing engineering, case studies and product information, be it about process control, drives & motors, process instrumentation, solids handling, filtration & separation, mixing & blending, health & safety, heat transfer & energy, weighing, maintenance, asset management, fluids & liquids handling, pumps & valves, calibration etc to the readership of Process Industry Informer and its website www.piimag.com and this is clearly recognised in every issue of PII and its fast developing website.
