High performance Mobilgrind oils maximise efficiency of machining equipment, reducing maintenance costs and extending fluid life

ExxonMobil today launched Mobilgrind, a new series of technologically-advanced neat cutting and grinding oils at the EMO Milan machine tool exhibition. The new oils are designed to improve machining in high speed automated machining centres through enhanced equipment lubrication, increasing productivity and delivering maximum performance from machine tools.

This new line is being launched to compliment ExxonMobil’s existing technology-leading range of Mobilmet cutting oils.  Specially designed to meet the increasing demands of today’s highly-automated machining centres, tooling trends and health and safety regulations, the Mobilgrind oils have been developed for high speed grinding applications where excellent surface finish, high precision machining and improved productivity are the primary objectives.  They can be used with conventional and CBN grinding wheels.

The use of lower viscosity formulations helps to improve machining performance through enhanced penetration at the wheel/component interface and to keep grinding wheel clean.  The lower viscosity also helps to reduce metal fines and particulates in the oil and to aid filtration and drainage off components, machine and swarf to keep consumption levels as low as possible.

“For many decades, premium quality Mobilmet cutting oils have been an essential part of the production strategies employed by successful metal working companies around the world in their drive for continuous improvement,” said Peter Bird, industrial lubricants marketing Europe Africa Middle East, ExxonMobil Lubricants & Petroleum Specialties. “With the introduction of the new high performance Mobilgrind oils, we look forward to helping engineering professionals improve component quality and maximize their productivity in their plants, particularly in the grinding shop.  This can translate to reduced tool wear and re-grinding and potentially to lower costs.”

The new Mobilgrind series products have been carefully designed to work with premium Mobil hydraulic and slideway oils, including the new Mobil DTE 10 Excel hydraulic oil and the new formulation Mobil Vactra Oil.  By eliminating the problems associated with cross contamination of different lubricants within the machine tool, this innovative lubrication package on offer from Mobil Industrial Lubricants provides benefits of extended fluid life-time, lower maintenance costs and an improved working environment.
