The latest Real Games software allows users to build and simulate industrial systems and control them through external technologies, in real time
Real Games released FACTORY I/O, a real time automation sandbox where users can build and simulate industrial systems and use them with the most common automation technologies, for educational and training purposes. FACTORY I/O is the natural evolution of Real Games’ first product ITS PLC, and presents upgraded features requested by Real Games customers throughout the years, including the possibility to build industrial systems and analog control. This gives all automation enthusiasts the opportunity to use a product that “takes the simulation environment for educational purposes to a new level,” said Bill Valedis, vice-president of Precision TPS Canada, in an interview for the Manufacturing Automation Magazine.
The user creates systems by using a built-in palette of industrial parts based on what’s commonly found in typical industrial plants, bringing a new level of realism that so far couldn’t exist in classrooms. With an easy and intuitive interface, users can quickly build systems by simply dragging and dropping the desired parts into the scene and then test their sensors and actuators immediately by running the simulation at any time during the process. Users can build any system from scratch or use one of the pre-built available systems to start with. The use of simulated systems gives users a highly motivational risk-free environment that stimulates natural learning without the fear of failure since it does not present risk of damage to equipment and injury to users.
Much like the original Real Games product ITS PLC, FACTORY I/O also allows users to interface the simulations with external technologies, both software or hardware, through I/O Drivers. The current version includes the following I/O drivers: ADVANTECH USB 4750, ADVANTECH USB 4704, AUTOMGEN TCP/IP, MHJ SOFTWARE, MODBUS TCP/IP Server/Client, Siemens LOGO! 0BA7/0BA8 TCP/IP, Siemens S7-300/400 TCP/IP, Siemens S7-1200 TCP/IP, Siemens S7-1500 TCP/IP, Siemens S7-PLCSIM (v5.4/5.5) TCP/IP and the Open (SDK) driver. These drivers enable a simple and easy connection to any PLC, PAC, microcontrollers, SCADA, and several software such as PLC simulators, among other technologies.
FACTORY I/O also allows the creation of custom drivers to interface with any technology desired, making the possibilities for automation training endless. Specific features were designed to help teachers and trainers challenge and engage their students in troubleshooting training, such as the injection of failures in sensors and actuators and an instructor mode with several locking options. Users can visit Real Games’ website to download a FACTORY I/O full-featured 30-day trial, as well as to get information about licensing models, pricing options and ordering methods.
