High Efficiency Low-speed Submersible Wastewater Mixer Launched

Xylem has launched a new high efficiency, low-speed, submersible wastewater mixer that can help reduce energy costs by as much as 50 per cent and is ideal for use in applications such as activated sludge treatment, biogas, and sludge holding tanks and digesters.

Unlike conventional submersible mixers, the new Flygt 4320 offers built-in speed regulation to optimise operational control over the thrust of the mixer, thereby significantly reducing energy consumption. To enhance the efficiency of the mixer further, the motor utilised within the Flygt 4320 is equivalent to Super Premium Efficiency IE4 class.

Combining a high efficiency mixer with an integrated variable frequency drive (VFD), the Flygt 4320 makes it possible to minimise life cycle and energy costs, and be easily adapted to meet changing process needs and load conditions.

The Flygt 4320 mixer is available in two or three-bladed propeller models, with propeller diameters ranging from 1.4 to 2.5 metres, enabling almost any mixing requirement to be met. The innovative design of the yellow Flygt 4320 ‘banana’ propeller provides high hydraulic efficiency and ensures clog-free operation.
 
The Flygt 4320 mixer is compatible with central control systems and can be accessed remotely for ease of use. It is also equipped with ‘soft-start’ and ‘soft-stop’ features, which regulate the motor revolutions, increase the stability of the mixing system and reduce electric inrush currents.
