- Economical onsite treatment for small populations
- Easy-to-install – including remote and rural sites
- Custom installation allows ‘design-your-own’ treatment plant
A new packaged sewage treatment plant – engineered to the highest standards – is being launched with a summer roadshow by Hampshire-based company WPL. The WPL HiPAF Eco Midi will be able to serve a population equivalent of between 60 and 15O.
Representatives from WPL will be exhibiting the new addition to the range at the Royal County Show in Cornwall in June, the Pembrokeshire County Show in August and the Royal County of Berkshire Show in September.
Economical and easy-to-maintain, the plant has been designed to provide onsite treatment for caravan parks, hotels, visitor centres, wedding venues and country houses. It is also suitable for schools, housing developments, golf courses, care homes and small villages, particularly in rural areas where access to off mains drainage can be difficult.
Engineers from WPL can create site-specific installation plans, which ensure a minimum of disruption and low environmental impact. The Eco Midi has been engineered so it can be modified to meet specific needs to accommodate a range of optional extras.
It can be adapted to remove all traces of nitrates to comply with the strictest Environmental Agency consent standards, which are sometimes enforced at Sites of Special Scientific Interest. The HiPAF Eco Midi can also be custom-installed to ensure stable treatment, even at tourist attractions and other sites where flow varies greatly depending on the season.
Although the new model is designed to be competitive when it comes to price, it is manufactured to the same robust standards as all other packaged plants manufactured by WPL.
The WPL Eco Midi is one size up from the WPL HiPAF Compact – which can handle a site between one and 60 population equivalent (PE). The slightly larger HiPAF Midi can deal with the equivalent of between 60 and 300 PE, while the HiPAF Modular can cope with a population of up to 2,000 PE.
All WPL treatment plants achieve a high performance with minimum energy costs – thanks to the units’ hydrodynamic design, which prevents “dead zones” within the filter bed. Low maintenance costs, low energy use and no moving parts inside the unit all help keep down the whole-life costs of all WPL products.
WPL treatment plants have a proven track record of delivering results to the highest environmental standard and the HiPAF Midi will biologically treat sewage to a standard that exceeds the levels currently set by all regulatory bodies.
Technical director of WPL Andrew Baird said: “The great advantage of our new HiPAF Eco Midi is that it can be adapted to meet the needs of our customers. The new packaged plant is good value for money and easy-to-install and maintain but has all the quality and benefits people associate with our products.
“With 25 years’ experience in the water industry we are confident we can supply onsite treatment to the highest environmental standards. We believe there is a demand for this type of low-footprint, robust onsite treatment unit which can be installed in urban and remote areas.”
