A bi-monthly(ish) lighthearted insight into the world of PII's publisher Guy Ullmann's latest going's on, together with updates about PII and details of ‘What's coming up‘ in each issue
I hope you had a fabulous Christmas break, which no doubt feels like a distant memory already, but are now all set for a busy and prosperous 2022 – which I hope PII can contribute to.
My Christmas was quiet, but a really nice quiet, lots of time with Noah and my Sister – it was the first time since Ivan passed away I had seen them, so it was an emotional reunion.
I stayed with ma & pa for a while too, which was just as well as you'll see in the pics below, they were in serious need of a dusting of Christmas spirit!
Â
This year, mum made the executive decision to have our Christmas meal at a restaurant, which I have to admit I wasn’t the biggest fan of, especially as it was an Italian!! – Robi would have been overjoyed if she was with us! (Thankfully they swapped the pizza for a 7 course Roast which I confess was delicious (even my veggie option!)
Lots to cover in this issue, but before that below are a few highlights of my Christmas….

One of the many marketing tools I use is a really useful service called Similarweb which helps track how your website is doing against your competitors, and it's something I would advise you to use for your media planning as you can determine which websites are performing the best.
As you can see below, PII outperforms all of our closest competitors (and a couple of others just so you can evaluate the difference) by quite some distance in every category, except one!

I am a big fan of The Apprentice, these days more for the comedy factor than any business acumen and this season is certainly not disappointing…
In case you missed it, in the first task the so called ‘crema de creme of business brains’ were tasked to come up with a cruise line theme and associated logo, this, what I’m embarrassed to say, is what the guys team came up with:
The last time I saw anything like that I had to call out Dyno-Rod
In the next task the candidates were tasked to come up with a toothbrush for kids aged 6-8, this is what the guys came up with:
I'm thinking of getting a psychiatrist for you lot, because you seem to be obsessed with turds.
(Asking the girls:) You were going to Saturn, right?
This looks like it came from Uranus!"
Â
Definitely a facepalm moment!
If you need any design assistance, that won’t look like a turd, our design team is excellent – please do get in touch for any projects you have in mind.
Send any comments and I'll get right back to you
