ALFA LAVAL’S ROTARY SPRAY HEADS ARE THE FIRST TO GAIN EHEDG APPROVAL

Rotary spray head tank cleaning machines with full EHEDG certification

Two models from Alfa Laval’s range of rotary spray head tank cleaning machines have become the first in the world to receive full EHEDG ( European Hygienic Engineering Design Group) certification for compliance with that organisation’s Hygienic Equipment Design Criteria.

The two machines are the SaniMidget SB and SaniMidget Ultra Pure, both rotary spray head (RSH) machines designed for cleaning tanks and vessels within the food and other hygienic industries. They join Alfa Laval’s SaniJet rotary jet head tank cleaning machines which achieved EHEDG certification back in 2004.

The SaniMidget SB series of tank cleaning machines are intended for use in closed tanks, vessels and containers employing typical CIP procedures. They have a broad range of application areas within pharmaceutical, food, dairy and chemical industries, cleaning tanks up to 10m3 in capacity with a single machine. For larger vessels, multiple heads can be grouped together.

Motive force provided by the cleaning fluid itself causes the head of the Toftejorg SaniMidget to rotate and send fan jets in a swirling pattern throughout the vessel. It is the combination of fluid impact and cascading flow that ensures all of the internal surfaces of the tank are cleaned. In addition, the SaniMidget SB has a self-cleaning feature whereby the cleaning media flows through the rotating bearing track and onto the neck of the elongated head.

SaniMidget SB is also authorised to carry the 3A logo, meaning that the machine has now gained certification with the two most important organisations connected with food industry hygiene standards.
