Babcock Wanson UK Signs Co-operation Agreement with OLG to Strengthen Project Delivery Capability

Babcock Wanson UK has signed a three year co-operation agreement with OLG – the multi-disciplined engineering, design, project management, fabrication and construction specialist. The partnership reinforces both companies' ability to deliver major industrial projects across the UK, particularly those focused on energy efficiency and decarbonisation.

Over the last few years, Babcock Wanson Group has expanded its technical capabilities steadily through the addition of specialist companies in water treatment, air treatment and emission control to its international operations.

This strategy enables the Group to provide one of the most comprehensive ranges of industrial boilers and burners available, along with integrated technologies that help customers reduce emissions, increase energy efficiency, and recover valuable resources.

With growing demand for low-carbon industrial heating systems, partnering with a delivery specialist became the logical next step. OLG was identified as the ideal choice.

Effective from 2025, the agreement formalises a relationship that has grown since 2019. During this time, Babcock Wanson and OLG have already delivered eight major projects together. The new partnership enables the two companies to present a unified offering to industrial clients seeking modern, efficient and lower carbon process heating solutions.

By combining advanced heating technologies from Babcock Wanson with the engineering, construction and project management expertise of OLG, the co-operation agreement offers a single point of contact for fully integrated turnkey projects. This approach is expected to enhance delivery efficiency, reduce lead times and increase value for end-users.

Paul Lawrence, Business Development Manager at OLG, says:We have become trusted partners, understanding each other’s requirements so we can deliver projects more efficiently, exceeding the end client’s expectations. The more projects we deliver together reduces the time required to understand each other’s capabilities and approach to delivery. This deeper understanding of Babcock Wanson’s technology and OLG’s core competencies enables us to sell the combined benefits to operating clients looking to decarbonise their operation. Collectively we can deliver a full turnkey solution for operating clients, providing one point of contact for delivery and contract, creating value for the end client.”

This is OLG's first co-operation agreement with a technology provider and complements its existing collaborations with Blackrow, Technica and FES, which focus on larger construction, EC&I design and installation capabilities and hazardous area expertise.

Paul added: “Collaboration is one of our fundamental strategic drivers at OLG. If we can create value by aligning with partners to meet the demand of current and future clients, we enhance our position within the supply chain by developing relationships that last. This year alone we have signed agreements with three partners to provide just that, an enhanced value proposition that seeks to deliver solutions that clients value.

The agreement follows OLG's first industry collaboration event, which was attended by Babcock Wanson and is intended to be the first of a series aimed at fostering supply chain partnerships and creating value. During the event, OLG's Managing Director, Barry Taylor, spoke about the benefits of collaboration, while Frank Lee, CEO of the Institute of Collaboration Working, highlighted the broader advantages of taking a structured collaborative approach.
