Bespoke moulded Enclosures speed up repeat orders

Listen to this article

Spelsberg, the UK”s leading supplier of non-metallic electrical enclosures, offers a standard range of approx. 4,000 enclosures and associated accessories.

While most enquiries can be satisfied from the standard range, or with help from Spelsberg”s in-house CNC capabilities, there are some applications that require solutions which are completely bespoke from the ground up. For these situations Spelsberg is able to offer a customised product moulding service; creating a tooling for the solution and storing it at the manufacturing facilities in Germany to keep repeat order lead times to a minimum.

Thanks to continued investment over the last five years, Spelsberg UK has built up a reputation for delivering high quality, customised enclosure solutions on an extremely quick lead time. It boasts 3 in-house CNC machines, which, combined with its vast standard product portfolio, allows it to deliver solutions which are perfect for almost any application. However, there are still some situations where it makes better commercial sense to build a new enclosure from the ground up.

Applications that will require high-volume repeat orders can often benefit from the Spelsberg tooling service that utilises the unique interchangeable sidewall components of the moulding tool. By eliminating the regular customisation costs the one-off cost of creating the customer specific tooling is easily offset. Delivery time is also kept to a minimum as orders can be delivered direct from the manufacturing facilities in Germany.

Creating a customer specific tooling is a process that guarantees the end-user is presented with an enclosure that perfectly matches their requirements. After an initial consultation with a Spelsberg engineer, a 3D CAD model of the enclosure is created before being sent to the customer for approval and sign-off. From here the tooling is created and a production run is commissioned. The enclosures will be tested using Spelsberg”s in-house certified testing laboratories. Once everything is approved, Spelsberg will keep the tooling at its facilities ready for a production run whenever required.

Spelsberg understands the need for confidentiality and all tooling created using this service will remain for the exclusive use of the customer. A unique part number is assigned to every customer specific product produced for easy identification and hassle free ordering.
