Börger’s pumps advance to Great Billing

Listen to this article

Pumping washwater at the largest advanced digestion plant in the UK is the latest in a wide range of applications now being handled by Börger’s pumps.

Powered by 18.5kW motors, three PL200 Börger pumps handle flow rates of between 23m3/hr and 54m3/hr (with a suction lift of three metres) for Anglian Water’s new washwater plant at Great Billing in Northamptonshire.

This latest installation follows the success of a further 15 Börger pumps on six different applications, including the continuous transfer of sludge to the blend tank that feeds the raw sludge thickening belts prior to the anaerobic digesters.

Tim Hilsdon, Anglian Water’s Treatment Manager at Great Billing STW, commented:  “Börger’s pumps are proving a very reliable addition to our programme of improving assets and enhancing the overall performance of our sludge processes”.

He added:  “Being able to have Börger’s pumps installed above ground is also a big benefit for our team when carrying out routine maintenance because it makes them so much easier and quicker to service”.
