Interactive Coding Equipment (ICE), a UK leader in high-quality coding and marking solutions for the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, printing and DIY industries, is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year.

The Nottingham-based company was established in 2001 after its founding directors – Chris Simpson, Chris Gent and Dave Bradbury – had the idea of combining their 40 years’ engineering experience to create a company that could deliver unrivalled coding, printing and labelling solutions to the packaging industry.

Today ICE enjoys a strong reputation for innovation and high quality customer service across a range of technologies, including thermal transfer, thermal inkjet, large character marking and print & apply labelling.

Since its launch, the company has grown from a three-man operation to a thriving business with more than 65 employees – an expansion reflected by its three changes of premises, culminating in the company’s large purpose-built headquarters at Olympic House, Nottingham. In its 15-year history, ICE has installed 9,000 machines for more than a thousand customers.

As it celebrates this milestone, ICE can look back on a proud record of delivering an array of fully integrated solutions, starting with the Zodiac Thermal Transfer Overprinter in 2001 and the Torus Case Coder range in 2003, the Viper Thermal Inkjet printer in 2010, the Vulcan Print and Apply Labeller in 2014 and the Scorpion Thermal Inkjet printer last year.

Since 2013, the company has also sponsored several motorcycle racing teams, including the ICE MV Agusta UK team, which competed in the Pirelli National Superstock Series and most recently the Buildbase BMW team, taking part in the current British Superbike (BSB) Championship.

“Our 15 years of success and growth are a tremendous achievement and a tribute to the hard work and dedication of the entire ICE team,” comments Chris Simpson. “Here’s to the next 15 years – and beyond!”
