COMPACT AND RELIABLE HIGH PRESSURE GEAR PUMPS

External Gear Pumps

The established range of simple, yet highly reliable Viking External Gear Pumps has recently been extended to include models which provide flows from as little as 0.2 lit/min up to 760 lit/min. The range now features 29 models and these latest higher pressure versions mean there is an even better chance of a pump to suit most higher pressure chemical and industrial pumping applications. Available through pump specialists MICHAEL SMITH ENGINEERS, the SG range of Viking positive displacement pumps includes models rated for maximum continuous pressures up to 34 bar and maximum intermittent pressures up to 172 bar.

Reliability and minimal maintenance are the key benefits of the SG Series of pumps thanks to their innovative design and this ensures extended seal and bearing life keeping downtime to an absolute minimum. For example, shaft movement is minimised which significantly lengthens seal life, radial (side-to-side) movement, or misalignment, is prevented by close-coupled motor mounts, or outboard bearings for foot-mounted pumps. Axial (back-and-forth) movement is minimised by spur-type gears, instead of helical gears, which can cause gear thrust on contact components.  Also, the pumps incorporate as standard, anti-friction needle bearings which eliminate bearing wear at start-up and shutdown.

Application flexibility is also important and the pumps are designed with this in-mind. They have a high pressure capability (up to 35 bar on some models), resulting in a compact that delivers higher volumes at higher pressures.
Multi-section models with multiple porting options mean that two or more separate pumping sections driven by a single source can be configured with separate ports or common suction or common discharge ports. This means each section can operate at different pressures and or flows, making the pumps very adaptable to unique pumping applications. Optional carbon graphite bearings are available for very low viscosities or silicon carbide for abrasives which ensures ‘best’ bearing selection for pump configuration matched to the application.

As a result of the wide range of models, configurations and material options, Viking SG Series Gear Pumps are suitable for numerous pumping applications. These include; centralised lubrication systems, Polyurethane metering and mixing, compressor lubrication, burner feed, pipeline sampling, heat transfer and adhesive and sealant dispersion.
