Diaphragm pump offers complete liquid containment

Listen to this article

Increased awareness of health and safety responsibilities and a more responsible attitude towards pollution prevention are thought to be drivers contributing to the increased popularity of Hydra-Cell® seal-less diaphragm pumps.

If a pumped liquid is considered to be dangerous, toxic, or noxious, then 100% containment is essential and Hydra-Cell pumps guarantee complete containment. Pumps with dynamic seals cannot be considered, as even small leakages, more commonly known as diffusion, will escape in the form of potentially harmful vapour on the atmospheric side of the seal. Seal wear over time will only exacerbate the problem and can prove to be a costly maintenance item.

Although Can and Magnetic drive pumps also offer complete containment, they are invariably less efficient than Hydra-Cell diaphragm pumps. Unlike these pumps, Hydra-Cells do not use the pumped liquid as a lubricant and consequently can be used to empty tanks and can run dry indefinitely without damage.

Hydra-Cell pumps can also handle abrasives and dangerous liquids that might crystallise and cause damage to pumps with bearings that run within the pumped liquid.

Hydra-Cell pumps are reported to stand apart from other diaphragm pumps thanks to their multi-diaphragm design that gives a virtually pulse-less flow, removing the need for expensive pulsation dampeners.

Being high pressure, positive displacement pumps, Hydra-Cell pumps are equally suitable for process fluid transfer and for metering & dosing applications, where they meet the performance requirements of API 675.
