Emerson Unveils Adaptive Capability for DeltaV™ InSight, Extending Predictive Intelligence of PlantWeb® Architecture

DeltaV system automatically learns process dynamics, diagnoses problems, and re-tunes controllers

Emerson Process Management has developed a new adaptive capability for DeltaV™ InSight which enables the DeltaV digital automation system to automatically learn process dynamics, diagnose control problems, and re-tune control loops for optimal performance.

Further extending the predictive intelligence of Emerson’s PlantWeb® digital plant architecture, this new capability is embedded within the DeltaV system and will automatically configure all DeltaV and Foundation™ fieldbus-based control loops to provide increased performance and availability.

DeltaV InSight is unique in that it automatically provides system-wide performance monitoring and diagnostics, with no additional configuration or maintenance effort. InSight performance monitoring is automatically updated for any changes made to the system.

DeltaV InSight also accounts for process changes by automatically learning process dynamics from normal day-to-day operations. This process knowledge may be applied to improve plant performance and availability with adaptive loop tuning, non-linear control, loop diagnostics, process simulation, and model based control.

DeltaV InSight has also been enhanced with automatic performance reports that can be scheduled to provide key performance metrics for a user’s control system. Based on XML standards and Microsoft® Excel® templates, these reports are ready to use straight out of the box, or can be customised with a plant’s unique key performance indicators. These reports will also be available through Emerson’s highly successful Guardian Dashboard support website, enabling customers to easily distribute reports across their enterprise.

DeltaV digital automation systems are a core component of Emerson’s open, standards-based PlantWeb digital plant architecture which substantially reduces project costs, typically saving customers over 30% on installed costs.
