Energy Management & Automation Provider Rises To 4th In Corporate Knights’ Carbon Clean200 List

Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, has been named at the 4th place of the Clean200, a list of the 200 largest companies worldwide ranked by their total clean energy revenues.

The Clean200 has been published for the first time on August 15, 2016, by Corporate Knights, the magazine for clean capitalism, and As You Sow, a non-profit organisation that promotes environmental and social corporate responsibility through shareholder advocacy and coalition building. Its ambition is to start a broad and dynamic dialogue about how all investors can co-create a clean energy economy and how best to evaluate and highlight companies already on the continuum of the energy transition. In order to be eligible, a company must have a market capitalisation greater than $1 billion (end of Q2 2016) and earn more than 10 per cent of total revenues from clean energy sources.

In November 2015, on the eve of the COP21, Schneider Electric stepped up its sustainable development objectives with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality for the company and its ecosystem over the next 15 years, through its products, solutions, R&D and industrial operations. These commitments include:

• Measuring the carbon impact of 100 per cent of major client projects
• Designing 100 per cent of new offerings using the Schneider ecoDesign Way™ and achieving the company’s Green Premium™ standard in 75 per cent of its business
• Avoiding 120,000 tons of CO2 by introducing “end of life” products in line with circular economy principles
• Helping 50 million people at the base of the economic pyramid to access lighting and communications over the next 10 years through low-carbon solutions
