Pentair, global leader in industrial heat tracing solutions, is launching enhanced versions of Raychem XTV, HXTV and KTV industrial heat-tracing cables. The new heating cables are now suitable for maximum intermittent exposure temperatures of up to 250°C/482°F, whereas previous versions were limited to temperatures of up to 215°C/420°F.
At the same time, Pentair brings the ‘system approach’ testing methodology into compliance with the latest revision of the international standard IEEE 515. The test data and algorithms gathered through this new testing methodology provide significant improvements to maximum sheath temperatures of Raychem’s XTV, HXTV and KTV cables when using stabilised designs in hazardous locations.
As a result, these self-regulating heat-tracing cables can now be used for applications with higher “worst case” maximum pipe temperatures (process or runaway temperature or control-limited setpoint), within the same temperature classification. This will simplify the design and installation considerably on projects, in particular for applications with temperature class T3 (200°C) classification.
A new public version of Pentair’s design software with the above enhancements (TraceCalc Pro 2.7) is now available and can be downloaded from the Pentair website.
