Essentra launches new PEEK fastener range with exceptional thermal stability and mechanical properties

Listen to this article

Essentra Components, a leading supplier of essential industrial parts and fastening solutions, has announced the launch of its new range of PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone) fasteners. Designed for extreme operating conditions, the range delivers outstanding chemical resistance, exceptional thermal stability and superior mechanical properties, making it ideal for industries where reliability and performance cannot be compromised.

Why PEEK fasteners?

PEEK fasteners are increasingly specified where high performance plastics are required. They combine thermal and electrical resistance with low outgassing, which is particularly important in harsh environments. Typical applications include components within fuel systems or in ultra-high vacuum settings, where minimising the risk of contamination and thermal instability is critical.

Unlike traditional metal fasteners, PEEK fasteners are lightweight and versatile, providing a secure alternative that bridges the gap between nylon and metal. This makes them an attractive choice for design engineers seeking to optimise weight reduction without sacrificing strength or durability.

Essentra’s new PEEK range is manufactured in-house, ensuring improved lead times and giving customers access to the company’s technical expertise. This internal production capability also allows greater control over quality and consistency across the range.

A comprehensive product offering

The new PEEK fastener range includes a wide variety of components, such as cap head screws, hexagon bolts, spacers, set screws, ultra-low head machine screws and countersunk screws. Each product is engineered to withstand extreme temperatures, aggressive chemicals and high-stress applications.

The combination of thermal stability and resistance properties makes these fasteners a superior alternative in specialist environments. Industries such as aerospace, automotive, electronics and medical equipment manufacturing stand to benefit significantly from the use of PEEK fasteners, where high performance and reliability are non-negotiable.

Strengthened by the Wixroyd acquisition

The expanded range of PEEK products is available through Essentra’s Wixroyd sub-brand, which was acquired in 2023. This acquisition has enabled Essentra to broaden its UK operations and further strengthen its expertise in precision fasteners and engineering components. The addition of the new PEEK range is a strong demonstration of how Wixroyd’s integration continues to add value to Essentra’s portfolio.

Designed for mission-critical industries

Adam Constable, International Sales Manager (EMEA) at Wixroyd, explains the thinking behind the new product launch:

“Our latest products were developed with the more specialised and intensive industries our main priority. The medical, scientific and energy sectors often require products that perform across a plethora of environments, and we wanted to ensure that our products were able to meet the demands from these industries.

“Our new PEEK range offers many of the characteristics that make our precision metal fasteners so versatile but crucially, the adaptability and resistance needed, without the added burden that the weight and bulk that those products typically bring.”

Meeting the growing demand for advanced materials

With increasing emphasis on efficiency, lightweight design and material performance across multiple industries, PEEK fasteners represent a critical advancement for engineers and procurement professionals. Their ability to deliver consistent performance in environments where metals may corrode or where traditional plastics may fail is what sets them apart.

By offering this new range, Essentra is supporting UK manufacturers and international markets with innovative fastening solutions that meet the highest standards of safety and reliability.
