We Don’t Sell Metal. We Sell Solutions.

Listen to this article

In feed milling, customers know exactly what they are doing.
They work with carefully developed formulations, precise ingredient ratios and proven processes that deliver consistent, high quality feed. Every blend is refined over time and backed by experience.

At ISF, we take the same approach.

We do not simply fabricate steel. We do not just install machinery. We deliver engineered feed mill solutions, built on a formula designed to improve performance, efficiency and long term reliability.

The ISF Formula for Feed Mill Engineering

Where others see a conveyor, a press or a transfer line, we see the complete process. We consider operational constraints, throughput targets, safety requirements and future expansion from the outset.

Our approach combines a number of essential elements:

  • Over 36 years of experience in feed mill engineering
  • Project Managers with more than 40 years of combined expertise
  • Deep, practical industry knowledge
  • Proven problem solving capability across complex installations
  • Award winning training and team development programmes
  • Longstanding supplier relationships across the UK and Europe
  • A customer focused approach at every stage of the project lifecycle
  • A highly skilled and adaptable engineering team
  • A genuine passion for delivering measurable results

Each element plays a critical role. Remove one and the formula is no longer complete.

This integrated approach is what enables us to deliver reliable, scalable and efficient feed mill systems across the UK process industry.

The Formula in Action

It is one thing to define a formula. It is another to apply it in real world environments where constraints are unavoidable and performance expectations are high.

On a recent installation, we worked within a feed mill located inside a former aircraft hangar. The required cooler could not fit within the available headroom. Rather than presenting a limitation, our team developed a bespoke engineered solution that met all performance criteria without requiring structural compromise to the building.

In another project, we increased mill throughput from 12 to 20 tonnes per hour, delivering a 60% uplift. This was achieved while reducing changeover times and maintaining full compliance with UK regulatory standards.

These results come from understanding the full production process and identifying where genuine efficiency gains can be made.

More Than Metal Fabrication

Fabrication alone does not deliver operational improvement.

Engineering a solution that increases throughput, reduces downtime and integrates seamlessly into an existing feed mill requires a deeper level of expertise. It demands process understanding, technical precision and a clear focus on outcomes.

When customers approach us, we do not just ask what needs to be built. We ask what needs to be improved.

Yes, we design. Yes, we manufacture. Yes, we install.
But what we truly deliver is improved efficiency, operational clarity and measurable performance gains.

That is the difference between supplying equipment and delivering engineered solutions for the feed milling industry.

Built on Long Term Relationships

In a specialised sector such as feed milling, trust is built over time through consistent delivery and proven results.

Today, 95% of our work comes from repeat customers. Many of these relationships have developed over decades and are based on reliability, technical expertise and a shared commitment to continuous improvement.

Every project matters because every customer relies on performance, uptime and long term value from their investment.

Investing in the Next Generation of Engineers

A formula is only as strong as the people who apply it.

We operate a structured apprenticeship programme in partnership with York Sixth Form College. This initiative pairs new talent with experienced engineers, ensuring practical and process specific knowledge is passed on effectively.

This commitment to skills development has been recognised with SHAPA’s Innovation in Training and Development Award in both 2023 and 2024.

Succession planning remains central to our strategy, ensuring that the expertise our customers depend on continues well into the future.

A Proven Approach That Delivers Results

For more than three decades, our approach has helped feed mills across the UK improve output, extend asset life and plan confidently for future growth.

We do not sell metal.
We deliver engineered feed mill solutions that work.
