Featuring eye-catching new touch screen and specially designed to be future proof as well as backwards compatible with older Fortress systems
Further underlining its unrivalled reputation at the forefront of metal detector technology, Fortress Technology Europe (tel: 01295 256266 or visit www.fortresstechnology.co.uk ) has launched the ICON. The groundbreaking new metal detector features an eye-catching touch screen front panel with membrane interface, and has been specially designed to be future proof as well as easily retrofitted to older models in the company’s Phantom series.

Using robust Quad-Core processing, the ICON delivers fast accurate detection of metal contaminants, and detailed data collection. Information gathered such as Product Configurations, Rejects and Faults is stored in an onboard database and accessible via USB or wired Ethernet. All collected data can be exported as Microsoft Excel or Adobe Acrobat PDF file formats.
The ICON features an intuitive graphical experience with custom designed icons and comprehensive menus that will allow users of all skill levels to easily set up products, perform tests and produce reports. The reports are generated by a mobile version of Fortress Technology’s Contact Communication Software which has evolved to be an important part of day to day testing procedures and product verification for Quality Assurance personnel. It is also widely used for HACCP compliance.
Having an increased amount of user options and available features, the ICON comes equipped with multilevel password protection (MLP). This added benefit controls access to specific areas of the system for different users. Once activated, the MLP will modify the user interface to display only relevant information, to reflect the level of responsibilities of the given user.
The ICON also offers many enhanced testing options through its Auto Test and Test Request features.  Product testing is an important routine that is done on all metal detectors and is now fully customisable. Testing can be scheduled according to the desired test method; it can be set up to occur on specific days, times and can also be automatically activated when key parameters such as Sensitivity or Phase values change.
Sarah Ketchin, Managing Director at Fortress Technology Europe comments: “The ICON is an extremely exciting development for Fortress. It provides the company with a building block for the future and enables us to easily introduce new features and functionality.”
“By being more future proof than anything else on the market, the ICON will also allow Fortress to continue its reputation of being able to provide innovative and effective solutions to satisfy customer demands and market conditions.”
Sarah concludes: “The fact we have designed it to be backwards compatible with all Fortress Phantom metal detectors makes it a cost effective option and reinforces our commitment to combining superior functionality with value for money.”
The ICON can also be easily customised and used in any multi-language environments.
Established in the UK since 1999, Fortress Technology provides an extensive range of metal detection systems to a variety of industries with primary focus on food and pharmaceutical. As well as supplying a series of standard metal detectors, the company can custom-build machines to suit non-standard applications.
Fortress Technology is backed by skilled in-house design, technical and consultancy teams and a growing distributor network. The company offers high quality spare parts, flexible warranty packages, training, product testing and rental units.
