China is a country that is constantly developing. From east to west, this giant country is creating an evolving infrastructure to connect its many growing cities. The Jingx in Expressway, sections of which are currently under construction, will stretch for more than 2,500 kilometres when completed. Its journey will take it through mountainous regions, cities, as well as vast remote deserts, including the Gobi desert.
With such a challenging environment, delivering a reliable supply of fresh water en route is complex and demanding. This is why Grundfos were chosen to deliver ten Prefabricated Pumping Stations along a particularly remote 815-kilometre stretch. The large, prefabricated fibreglass pumping stations containing modern equipment including Grundfos pumps – were delivered ready to operate from day one.
Putting pumps into such a remote area certainly has its own challenges, as the harshness of the climate means no-one lives along large parts of the expressway, which makes the reliability and availability of the water supply system crucial. Fresh water was originally required during the construction phase and the pumping stations needed to be built and delivered – ready to operate – to a very tight deadline.
This meant the Grundfos plug and play solution was ideal, as the sets were operational from day one. Moving forward these pumping stations will continue to deliver fresh water to thirsty travellers along the section.
The Jingxin Expressway project is the first of its kind in China and is a testimony to the ingenuity of a number of company’s ability to deliver clever, bespoke solutions within the harshest of environments and Grundfos are proud to be on this list.
