Fulton introduces VSRT-E hybrid boiler

Pioneering ultra-efficient low-emission steam generation with intelligent gas-electric flexibility

Building on the success of the VSRT, Fulton's VSRT-E hybrid boiler is a milestone in steam generation, combining cutting-edge engineering with an environmental energy use policy.

This ultra-low NOx high-efficiency boiler integrates a traditional gas-fired solution like hydrogen blend capability with an electric steam generation mode. What this results in is a smart hybrid solution that enables operators to optimise energy usage, reduce emissions and move away from conventional dual-fuel solutions.

Ergonomically laid out for simple installation and operation, the VSRT-E features a compact footprint and simple to operate control system. With heat efficiencies of 82.5% (Gas) and 99% (Electric) and 99.75% dryness steam, it guarantees significantly reduced fuel consumption and lower operating costs.

The hybrid setup allows users to toggle between electricity and gas, maximising efficiency by responding to off-peak electricity rates and offsetting carbon emissions. It is both cost-effective and sustainable on the environment, consistent with the UK national decarbonisation strategy.

Safety is paramount in the VSRT-E, with state-of-the-art monitoring and diagnostic technology to minimise operational risk and maximise reliability. Its new design also means reduced maintenance needs, reducing the likelihood and impact of break-downs.

As the industry shifts toward more environmentally-friendly practices, the introduction of the VSRT-E sets a new standard for innovation, combining efficiency, reliability and environmental responsibility in one future-proof solution.

Fulton will introduce new 100HP (1,000kW) and 125HP (1,200kW) VSRT-E models in the future to serve higher steam-demanding industrial customers. The existing 60HP (600kW) product already available in the UK will be supplemented by a series of flexible models for commercial and light industrial applications.

Fulton is also researching such next-generation control features as load forecasting using artificial intelligence and energy trading using blockchain. These next-generation innovations are aimed at turning the VSRT-E into a grid-interconnected asset that can select the most economical fuel source automatically using real-time carbon data and energy market signals.
