Technology innovation: GEMÜ D41 diaphragm valve with EasyLock

Listen to this article

Valve manufacturer GEMÜ, the global market leader in valves, measurement and control systems for sterile applications, has introduced a new valve product as part of its latest product generation.

The new GEMÜ D41 diaphragm valve incorporates EasyLock technology, delivering a step change in ease of maintenance, reduced complexity and significantly improved handling of diaphragm valves. With this development, GEMÜ is actively shaping the future of diaphragm valve design for aseptic and sterile process industries.

The pneumatically operated GEMÜ D41 diaphragm valve has been specifically engineered for use in aseptic manufacturing environments such as pharmaceutical, biotechnology and food and beverage production.

The valve’s sealing concept is based on the newly developed GEMÜ diaphragm, which hermetically separates the actuator from the working medium. This ensures a high level of process safety and hygiene. Installation of the GEMÜ D41 with EasyLock technology is carried out entirely without loose components, using a centrally mounted gearbox.

The GEMÜ D41 diaphragm valve with EasyLock technology is designed to be easy to handle, safe to operate and highly effective in demanding process conditions. EasyLock technology not only delivers a more reliable installation but also ensures even compression of the diaphragm.

The actuator is secured to the valve body using a bayonet fitting and is then centrally tensioned via a gearbox, again without the use of loose components, using an outer hexagon. This design significantly simplifies and accelerates actuator mounting and disassembly, commissioning and routine diaphragm replacement.

Diaphragm replacement is further supported by the bayonet pin design, while the new diaphragm technology provides enhanced safety and precision within the plant. Thanks to the new sealing system with fixed chambering, the natural setting behaviour of the diaphragm is controlled so that retightening is no longer required. This reduces maintenance effort and minimises the risk of installation errors during servicing.

Optimised rolling behaviour of the diaphragm improves controllability and reduces mechanical stress on the diaphragm material. As a result, maintenance intervals can be better aligned with specific application requirements, supporting both operational efficiency and lifecycle cost reduction.

The redesigned valve body not only reduces overall weight but also delivers high flow rates and homogeneous flow characteristics. This allows the GEMÜ D41, along with the previously announced GEMÜ D40 diaphragm valve, to achieve up to 100 percent higher Kv values, making them particularly suitable for high performance aseptic processes.

The GEMÜ D41 forms part of the new GEMÜ LEAP product generation, which also includes three additional valves and two automation components designed to meet modern process industry demands:

GEMÜ D40 – the high performance pneumatic diaphragm valve
GEMÜ S40 – the pneumatic globe valve with angle seat and straight seat designs
GEMÜ P40 – the efficient tank bottom valve with PD technology
GEMÜ 12A0 – the intelligent electrical position indicator
GEMÜ 44A0 – the multi functional combi switchbox

Throughout 2026, GEMÜ Great Britain is running a nationwide roadshow, offering customers the opportunity to explore these new innovations first hand and understand how they can enhance performance, reliability and efficiency in real world applications.
