How technology is helping in the supply chain process of slaughterhouses

Listen to this article

Technology is changing the way businesses operate, and the supply chain process is no exception. In recent years, technology has helped to streamline the process of slaughterhouses by making it easier for businesses to track their inventory and movements. This has led them to make more accurate decisions about where to allocate resources and accelerate proficiency. Technology is helping by speeding up the process and improving communication.

Newer technologies used in slaughterhouses

The recent use of newer technology in the supply chain process of slaughterhouses is beneficial for both the production line and the animals. For improving vital processes, companies like DGS offer new-age solutions that simplify the process, also boost efficiency. These technologies include:

Automation

Automation has become increasingly commonplace in the slaughterhouse, with many plants now using robotic systems for a wide range of tasks. These machines can speed up the process and reduce the workload for workers, making it easier for them to carry out their duties safely and efficiently. With automation, the process of slaughtering animals can be carried out quickly and efficiently, ensuring a higher quality product for consumers. Slaughterhouses that utilize automation are often more cost-effective and allow for greater production efficiency.

RFID tags

RFID tags are being introduced into slaughterhouses in an attempt to improve safety and efficiency. RFID tags can be read by machines to track the location of livestock as they are moved through the slaughterhouse, and this information can help ensure that animals are treated humanely. The tags are inserted into the animals during the slaughter process to track their movements as they move through different parts of the slaughterhouse. The information can be further used to enhance the effectiveness of the slaughter process and assure that the animals are being treated ethically.

Robot depalletizer

The robot depalletizer in a slaughterhouse speeds up the process of removing the carcasses from the livestock by removing all the skin, fat, and meat. This machine sorts the meat, which makes it easier to store and transport. It also makes it possible to reduce the number of knives required in the slaughterhouse, which reduces injuries and the potential for cross-contamination. With this machine, the workers can process a lot more carcasses in a shorter time than they could be using hand methods. It reduces downtime for the workers and also makes sure that there are no contaminated carcasses left on the ground.

Video analytics

Video analytics is quickly becoming an essential tool in the slaughterhouse. By tracking the movements of animals and recording data such as weight, age, breed, and sex, video analytics helps to improve animal welfare and efficiency. Additionally, using video has helped enrich meat quality by identifying issues such as improper stunning and excessive bleeding early on in the process.

The video analytics system records the actions of workers while they are working, and can provide information such as how long it takes to complete a task, where mistakes are made, and how much time is saved by using specific techniques.
