Listen to this article

Invensys Operations Management has made available its new Work Tasks smart phone application. The innovative Apple iPhone or iPad app allows industrial workers and managers– who are often away from their desks– mobile access to important and time-critical work tasks assigned by the company’s Wonderware ArchestrA Workflow Software.

Product overview:

The Work Tasks app delivers items to your mobile device

Leading industrial companies recognize that workflow management systems, like Invensys Operations Management’s ArchestrA Workflow, can drive greater workforce effectiveness. ArchestrA Workflow allows workflow modeling, execution and analysis within industrial or manufacturing environments, and it brings people, processes and systems together to more consistently execute important work processes at the plant or factory floor level, such as environmental compliance, health and safety and quality checks. The system orchestrates the execution of workflow to ensure that each step or task is handled satisfactorily and timely, even by inexperienced workers. And all workflow activities are recorded, making it easy to analyze and fine tune work processes.

ArchestrA Workflow software can embed work tasks within many existing plant systems, like Wonderware InTouch, MES, IntelaTrac, Microsoft SharePoint, BizTalk or even Outlook. Work Tasks is the next step. Now tasks are automatically delivered to Apple iPhone or iPad tablet (with more mobile platforms on the way). With it, managers are able to view, approve or reject work activities from wherever they are: in a meeting, at home or while travelling. Even mobile operators can be sent work tasks while in the field, improving response time and providing the information they need to execute their tasks more accurately and consistently.

Key capabilities:

  • Uses iPhone or iPad to monitor and act on work tasks;
  • Automatically receive notification of pending work tasks;
  • Allows user to approve or reject a task from anywhere;
  • Search for specific work items;
  • Filter work items based on categories or level of importance;
  • Execute a form-based work task
  • View work items even in offline mode
