APRIL 02, 2009/PLANO, TEXAS – Invensys Process Systems (IPS), a global technology and consulting firm, today announced that it has joined with Trinity Integrated Systems, a U.K.-based provider of safety lifecycle management tools, to deliver a unique solution that protects and updates the critical control systems of its process industry clients. Utilizing Trinity”s award-winning software, IPS can migrate older versions of its Triconex(r) safety and critical control applications directly and automatically to the latest release of its Triconex application, preventing long-time clients” systems from becoming obsolete.

“Equipment obsolescence presents a profound safety and business risk. This solution mitigates that risk by extending the life of our clients” production assets without compromising the safety and integrity of their operations,” said Joe Scalia, IPS controls system architect. “By collaborating with a valued provider, we are able to meet a critical client challenge. This solution future-proofs our clients” investments for years to come and enables them to move their intellectual property forward while protecting their hardware, effectively providing the latest Triconex safety system without rewiring or significant hardware modification.”

“Our innovative software automatically translates older Triconex code to current Triconex code, allowing IPS clients to easily upgrade to the most recent state-of-the-art safety and critical control system,” said Neil Crompton, managing director, Trinity Systems. “Trinity”s program provides automated translation and performs a circuit-by-circuit check of the client”s translated control logic. Thousands of individual automated tests are executed to verify that monitored responses are an exact match. This ensures that client”s can continue operating safely and protects their capital investments. Manual migrations introduce human error and are fraught with risks. The IPS approach limits these risks, and with several thousand Triconex systems in place, we see a
bright future for automated migration services.”

IPS and Trinity Systems will be demonstrating their new migration tool at the 2009 IPS Safety & Critical Control Forum in Prague, April 20 – 22, 2009. The Forum will focus on improving plant safety, reliability and efficiency and the role that people, process, technology and support play in sustainable safety assurance. Attendees who register by April 13 will receive Triconex lifecycle and sample translation reports, compliments of Trinity.
