Industry Trends Driving Bulk Bag Handling Equipment Renewals

Listen to this article

A recent report from Spiroflow, a global leader in powder handling and dry bulk solids processing now under the Akona Process Solutions umbrella, sheds light on some major industry trends that are driving investments in upgrading bulk bag handling equipment.

The 2024 State of Bulk Bag Handling report reveals a bright market outlook, with a whopping 77% of industry professionals planning to renew or replace their equipment in the next couple of years. Business is booming, as 98% of those surveyed reported increased activity over the past year, and more than half (52%) noted growth rates that surpassed 11%.

Improving operational efficiency has become a top priority, with 44% of respondents looking to upgrade their equipment to enhance performance. New bulk bag systems are helping companies maximize load capacities, especially for products with bulk densities under 30 lb/ft³, leading to significant savings in both transportation and storage costs.

On the flip side, 42% of industry experts are focused on reducing downtime by investing in advanced technology that simplifies maintenance and allows for quicker part replacements. This approach supports continuous operations and extends the lifespan of the equipment.

Focusing on Workplace Comfort and Operator Safety

Beyond efficiency, workplace ergonomics has taken center stage. Almost one-third (31%) of respondents are making operator comfort and safety a priority. Improved bulk bag handling systems greatly reduce the need for manual handling, bending, and stretching, which in turn lowers the risk of workplace injuries.

Spiroflow’s Innovative Solutions

As businesses evolve, Spiroflow is stepping up its game with innovative solutions. Their Cone Table Elite (CTE) Bulk Bag Filler is setting a new standard in the industry, boasting impressive fill rates of over 40 bags per hour—twice the usual rate of 20 bags.

This system doesn’t just fill bags quickly; it also offers remarkable weighing accuracy of +/- 1–2 lbs and features advanced densification technology that can boost bag capacity by up to 25%. These enhancements make the most of container and truck space, leading to significant savings on shipping costs.

Additionally, Spiroflow has rolled out a new sack tip station aimed at improving air quality and making material handling more efficient, tackling some of the ongoing challenges in bulk bag operations.

With the growing demand for smarter, safer, and more efficient bulk bag handling solutions across various industries, Spiroflow is leading the charge, providing cutting-edge technologies that enhance productivity and lower operational costs around the globe.
