New appointment puts emphasis on biofilm reactors and filtration solutions for small footprint water quality solutions in food, beverages and chemical sectors
ACWA Services, part of the ACWA Group, a leading international water and wastewater solutions provider, has appointed Martin Howard as Business Development Manager to drive growth and business opportunities for water and waste water solutions in the UK industrial, process industries and commercial sectors.
A highly successful water and waste water engineering partner in the municipal sector, ACWA’s appointment of Martin Howard will bring new focus on the commercial sectors, where trade effluent from production processes, environmental compliance and rising costs are a growing issue for a wide spectrum of industries. These include brewing and beverages to dairy and food manufacture, to pharmaceuticals and even major theme parks and water attractions.
ACWA Services believes advances in biofilm reactors and membrane filtration solutions, including the company’s MEMTREAT® solution widely used in the municipal space, now offer a significant opportunity to industrial organisations compared to traditional wastewater treatments and activated sludge processes.
A smaller footprint and simpler operation, combined with improved reliability, greater throughput and higher effluent quality make these solutions increasingly attractive to food processors.
ACWA foresees biofilm reactors and membrane filtration solutions will become replacement systems where water saving and re-use is important, and where trade consents are increasingly prohibitive.
With 14 years’ experience from Koch Membrane Systems where he held a variety of engineering, technical sales and bid management roles, specialising in the application of advanced membrane filtration solutions, Howard is ideally positioned to build on ACWA’s current commercial customer base.
This includes solutions for Center Parcs in the UK, LEGOLAND® Water Park in Dubai, Nestle, Christian Salvesen, Kellogg’s, Greencore Grocery, Buxted Chicken, Coca-Cola, as well as the malting, brewing and distilling sector.
Peter Brewer ACWA Services’ UK General Manager said: “Our skills in the municipal sector where we are involved across the country in water and waste water solutions are perfectly transferable to commercial and industrial clients where trade effluent and water re-use are a huge concern. Many traditional systems are reaching the end of their working life and new membrane bio-filtration solutions now offer a far more cost effective solution with a significantly smaller footprint. The space saving alone will be especially attractive to some organisations where constrained sites and space is at a premium. We are especially pleased to welcome Martin Howard who joins a highly capable team serving clients across the UK and internationally.”
