Metso introduces new solutions for improved safety in upstream offshore industry

Listen to this article

New stainless steel version of Metso”s intelligent safety valve controller Neles ValvGuard offers market leading pneumatics capacity, extensive safety valve testing capabilities and enhanced online condition monitoring features resulting in improved safety and availability at offshore platforms.

To complement its Smart Product offering for offshore customers Metso has released stainless steel versions, VG9300 and SG9300, of its safety valve controller, Neles ValvGuard, and intelligent on-off valve controller, Neles SwitchGuard.

New product launches are in line with Metso”s ambitious targets to develop and expand its valve offering and services globally for oil and gas industry. .

Unique offering for upstream offshore industry

Metso now has a unique offering for control valves, critical and conventional on-off valves as well as ESD valves for upstream offshore industry.

“With new VG9300 and SG9300 Metso is now able to support its offshore customers with a full range of stainless steel valve controllers for all offshore applications,”” says Juha Kivelä, Product Manager, Flow control business line, Metso.

In addition to integrated limit switches and market leading pneumatics capacity, the stainless steel ValvGuard provides online diagnostics on the safety valve performance and extensive safety valve testing capabilities.

With the stainless steel SwitchGuard, Metso is the first one to offer online condition monitoring features for on-off valves at offshore platforms. It also features unique possibility to customize valve opening and closing times and profiles.

“Thanks to online condition monitoring customers working in demanding offshore conditions can now have accurate and timely information concerning the valve performance level. This enables predictive maintenance and more efficient allocation of maintenance resources. The maintenance work can concentrate on the valves really needing attention and wasting maintenance resources can be avoided. This enhances overall process efficiency, safety and availability. Online condition monitoring makes it also possible for the maintenance function to operate remotely from an onshore location,”” Juha Kivelä continues.

Metso”s stainless steel valve controller offering includes also intelligent valve controller Neles ND9300 for control valve applications and Neles Axiom, controller for standard on-off applications.

These products have already been selected for major projects like Total CLOV, Angola, Chouest in the USA, Golden Eagle, UK, and Goliat project in Norway.
