Optimised Microfluidic System Fittings

Listen to this article

Biotech Fluidics is now offering a new product family of miniaturised flat-bottom port fittings aimed at life science and laboratory microfluidic instrumentation. The fittings are optimised for applications with very low liquid volume, particularly where there is limited space for connections during installation.

Flat-bottom ports are the connector of choice for semi-rigid tubing in low- to medium-pressure fluidic systems. Biotech Fluidics' new micro-miniature port fittings meet user convenience with high performance and offer several means to connect tubing of different outer diameters into standard flat-bottom receiving ports securely.

The revolutionary style of these fittings is based on a uniquely designed ferrule that seals the liquid passage, along with a lock ring that keeps the ferrule in place to form a tight, leak-free connection after tightening the nut. This design maintains a safe seal even under vibration conditions and also allows users to tighten the nut without twisting or deforming the tubing.

Constructed of PEEK (polyether ether ketone) for high biocompatibility and chemical resistance, these state-of-the-art fittings are designed with great care to work flawlessly with microfluidic systems. This offers accurate and consistent control over fluid flow, which is highly important in high-precision analytical, diagnostic and bioprocessing operations.

In addition to its higher mechanical strength, Biotech Fluidics' fittings also provide smooth internal passageways for efficient liquid transfer and uniform flow distribution. Their secure, tight seals enable researchers and engineers to achieve highly repeatable and consistent results even in difficult laboratory and production environments.

Utilised in genomics microfluidic devices, research in pharmaceuticals, or analytical chemistry applications, these fittings ensure trustworthy performance and simplified installation, fuelling innovation across a wide variety of life science applications.
