Eoin Leahy has been appointed ABB’s sales manager for drives and motors in the Munster and southern Leinster areas.
As an electrical engineer in companies including Project Management Group, Parsons and CEL International, Eoin has worked on a number of electrical design projects, ranging from lighting design to complete electrical supply projects for green field sites, multi-storey building projects in Dubai and process equipment in the food and beverage and pharmaceutical industries in Ireland.
This experience means that Eoin brings the customer’s perspective to his new role: “As a former customer of ABB, I was always very impressed with the company’s quality of service and I want to continue that reputation and be part of the first company people think of when they need a drive or motor.”
Eoin is responsible for selling the complete range of ABB’s motors and variable speed drives in his area and emphasises the way they can help cut customers’ energy and operating costs. For example, ABB energy audits can identify inefficient applications and prove the energy savings that variable speed drives can make in a customer’s own processes.
“ABB drives and motors are amongst the most efficient products of their type on the market. This combined with ABB energy audits can help customers improve their energy efficiency, often with energy savings as high as 60 percent and with payback as short as six months” he says.
ABB already has a number of good customers in the pharmaceutical, food and beverage and water industries in the area and Eoin will be seeking to improve and extend these relationships still further: “It’s not only electrical engineers that ABB can help. Mechanical and process engineers know their processes best and we want to work with them to get the right motor and drive for their application.”
