New Software Allows for Fast Analysis of Corrosion and Erosion Data

Enhanced visualisation and analysis software helps improve performance in upstream and downstream operations
Permasense, a leading provider of remote monitoring solutions to the upstream and downstream oil and gas industry, has today announced a major upgrade to its data visualisation and analysis software. Known as Data Manager 5 and powered by the breakthrough Adaptive Cross Correlation (AXC) processing technique, the new software makes it significantly quicker and easier for users to analyse the data gathered by Permasense’s corrosion and erosion-monitoring sensors. The software helps improve on-stream decision-making around asset integrity and production rates. It is designed to be retrofitted to all installed Permasense systems and will be the standard for all new installations

Permasense’s non-intrusive corrosion and erosion-monitoring system uses permanently installed, wireless sensors that continually measure the wall thickness of fixed equipment and quickly detect metal loss caused by internal corrosion or erosion. Combining established ultrasonic sensor technology with wireless communication, it sends real-time data automatically to the user’s desk, enabling them to view equipment wall thicknesses and wall loss rates at critical or high risk locations.
Users can monitor and analyse how the metalwork is coping with the demands placed upon it due to changes in process conditions, and affords online optimisation and validation of corrosion or erosion mitigation strategies in even the most inhospitable and inaccessible environments.
The launch of Data Manager 5, powered by AXC, will give Permasense’s clients an even clearer picture of asset integrity than was previously possible. Presenting the data in easy-to-use graphical formats, it will enable a wider range of users to make evidence-based decisions in a shorter time-frame, helping them to maintain optimum production output, introduce cost-efficiencies to their maintenance schedules and enhance reliability, availability and safety. The software also presents PSI, a new analysis to detect the onset of pitting type corrosion activity.
