Next Generation Data Acquisition System For Harsh Environments

Listen to this article

Now available from HBM – a market leader in the field of test and measurement – is the Somat eDAQXR, which is the next generation data acquisition system which has been developed for use in harsh environments.

Suitable for conducting tests in any number of applications, including agriculture, construction, mining, automotive, recreational vehicles and military, to name but a few, the Somat eDAQXR is the ideal choice for both new customers looking for a rugged data acquisition system, and existing customers looking to preserve current systems.

With a significantly smaller footprint than its eDAQ predecessor, this powerful processor offers a wider operating temperature range of -40 to 80°C and a lower operating power requirement of 8-36V.

The eDAQXR is a layered centralised data acquisition system with the ability to connect to remote SomatXR signal conditioning modules, making it a centralised or distributed system able to meet any test requirements.

Featuring on board memory, tests can be performed without the need to connect a PC, and with its robust Linux operating system and built-in internal backup power, the system is capable of running a one hour attended test or one month cross country test. Data just needs to be uploaded to a PC for analysis when the test is complete.

Tested to MIL – STD202G, the eDAQXR is completely sealed to meet IP67/IP65 environmental standards and has been designed to withstand vibrations of 20G, and shock up to 75G.

As the eDAQXR platform evolves, customers can mix their current DAQ signal conditioning layers, with new eDAQXR signal conditioning layers, and also combine these with remote modules from the SomatXR platform, and maintain synchronisation across all channels.

With the ability to log CAN, video, temperatures, accelerations, strain gauges, etc., the eDAQXR from HBM can collect up to hundreds of channels simultaneously in the harshest of environments.
