Greiner Packaging
Range of new technology for new market segments, strong position on dairy market
Greiner Packaging is extending its technological offer for the Russian market with sleeved PP bottles. The bottles are used to pack mustard and ketchup products manufactured by the Heinz concern. As a packaging specialist for dairy and delicatessen products, Greiner Packaging has earned a good reputation in Russia. With respect to premium packaging, the Austrian company now numbers amongst the market leaders.
Kremsmünster, 15 April 2010. – Greiner Packaging is gradually enlarging its technological range for the Russian packaging market. Recently, the company has started the production of 550-gram bottles using extrusion blow moulding technology. They are filled with mustard and ketchup brands belonging to the Heinz concern.
Enlarged decoration due to sleeving
The bottles are made of PP and they are sleeved, whereas the preceding models were decorated with labels. Due to the new type of decoration, the communication area on the bottles has been enlarged, thus increasing the eye-catching effect of the products on the shelves. Another new detail is the practical snap-on closure.
Well-anchored in Russia for many years
Many years ago, Greiner Packaging managed to successfully gain a foothold in Russia. In the Vladimir Business Park near Moscow, the company has a production location in the form of a joint venture. Greiner Packaging’s particular strengths are solutions for premium packaging for dairy and delicatessen products. Special K3 packaging is increasingly sought after by the major dairy companies in the country. This development is due to the fact that premium milk products belong to the fastest growing segments on the Russian dairy market. High-quality products need high-quality packaging.
Huge market with interesting potential for growth
According to experts it is estimated that the total capacity of the Russian dairy market, i.e. its annual turnover, is about ten billion euros. Annual growth is between three and five per cent. The most important product groups are milk, sour milk, yoghurt, curds and desserts. The largest dairy companies are Unimilk and Wimm-Bill-Dann. Danone, Campina and Ehrmann are amongst the global players that are particularly active in Russia.
