Phase Vision celebrates successful first decade

Listen to this article

Leicestershire-rebased Phase Vision, provider of innovative three-dimensional non-contact measurement solutions, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its incorporation as a business.

Phase Vision has come a long way from small beginnings as a two-person research/ consultancy unit within the Department of Engineering at Loughborough University, where it started developing shop floor metrology solutions for Airbus.

Professor John Huntley and Dr Russell Coggrave were originally tasked with measuring dimensional features on aircraft wings, which proved impossible with existing equipment whose operation was affected by vibration in the hangar environment.

This application requirement drove the early development of the Phase Vision scanner using SmartFringe structured white light technology, supported by Airbus and other industrial research clients.  As a result of system sales and continuing investor support over the past decade, Phase Vision has grown into an internationally recognised technology brand, selling its Quartz Scanner systems and contract measurement services to a wide range of industrial companies in automotive, aerospace and other manufacturing sectors.  The broad range of applications and markets served by Phase Vision means the Quartz Scanner has been developed in order to offer maximum flexibility in terms of component size, material and measurement environment.

Now the company employs XX people and boasts an enviable customer base including Airbus, XXX and XXX.

Phase Vision’s CEO, Ralph Weir, commented: ““The 10th anniversary of Phase Vision is a real landmark for all of the team, our customers, suppliers and our investors.  Phase Vision has been on a great journey over the past decade, growing in capability and confidence thanks to the commitment of all concerned both directly and indirectly with the business.  We are proud to have reached the end of our first decade, and we look forward to the challenges and opportunities of the next 10 years.”
