ProSoft Technology® develops new 2-4 GHz and 900 MHz industrial frequency-hopping serial radios

Listen to this article

The RLX-IFHS radios from ProSoft Technology® are ideal solutions for reducing engineering and installation costs of Serial industrial automation networks in the toughest environments. Specializing in communication protocols for industrial automation control, ProSoft Technology develops wireless solutions that meet the security, power and flexibility requirements of most network applications. RLX-IFHS radios are designed for Serial links such as Modbus, DF1, ASCII, IEC 60870-5-101 etc.

With this new generation of easy to use industrial radios, ProSoft Technology further improves the detection sensitivity of its receivers. For the user this means better operation in high-interference environments. It also means longer distances between radios (up to 24 or 48 km). New input filters and a new signal processing algorithm enable the RLX-IFHS radios to detect and retrieve data transmitted by a signal attenuated down to an extremely low level ( 116 dBm).

Applications
ProSoft Technology´s RLX-IFHS radios are ideal for automatic controls in high-interference environments or for supervision and high-interference environments over long distances. They enable data transfers between devices with serial interfaces at data rates ranging from 19.2 to 230 Kbps.

For extremely high flexibility, the radios can be integrated into point-to-point or multipoint architectures. Each can be configured as transmitter, receiver or repeater. The RLX-IFHS radios use the 2.4 GHz or 900 MHz bands. The 2.4 GHz RLX-IFH24S models operate in the international unlicensed frequency band and comply with European regulations. The 900 MHz RLX-IFH9S models can be used when exported to some countries. The frequency-hopping technology of these radios gives the wireless network improved security, near-immunity to interference and extended range: 24 km for the 2.4 GHz model and 48 km for the 900 MHz model in point-to-point operation with directional antennas (and unobstructed line of sight, necessary at these frequencies).

Main features
All the RLX-IFHS radios offer: 128-bit AES encryption, adjustable transmission power (10 to 100 mW for the 2.4 GHz European version, up to 1 W for the US version), transmission channel selection, programmable data transfer rates, Class I Div 2 hardened industrial enclosure.
The easy to use ProSoft Technology´s ControlScape software which is necessary for network configuration and advanced diagnostics is free of charge. The software monitors variables such as signal strength, transmitted data, number of network connections, etc., to help the user install and maintain his network.
All RadioLinx products are licence-free and have UL 1604/ISA 12.12.01 Class I Division 2 certification for demanding environments. Each ProSoft Technology product comes with a 3-year warranty and unlimited technical support.
