Warren East, Vice President of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), has been appointed the next Chief Executive of Rolls-Royce. He will take up his new position in July, succeeding John Rishton who has announced that he is set to retire in the summer.
An IET Fellow for nine years, Warren has been a Non-Executive Director of Rolls-Royce since January 2014 and has enjoyed an illustrious engineering career to date. He was previously the Chief Executive of ARM Holdings from 2001 to 2013. During his time at ARM, he transformed the business into a global leader, providing innovative smartphone chip designs for major brands including Apple and Samsung.
Warren said: “I am delighted to be appointed as Chief Executive of Rolls-Royce. It is well positioned in growth markets, with world-class engineering skills and a proud record of innovation and delivery. I have a strong desire to return to an executive position with the energy and enthusiasm a role that this demands.”
Warren studied Engineering Science at Oxford University and after working for Texas Instruments in the UK, he completed an MBA at Cranfield University. From 2001 to 2013 as CEO of ARM Warren built and led a highly capable team, formulating and implementing business strategy, and creating productive commercial partnerships between multiple companies around the world.
Warren’s focus on innovation will continue at Rolls-Royce, which is renowned for R&D and are best known for developing engines that power passenger jets, as well as ships and land vehicles.
