Van Beek service contract guarantees working sludge drying plant

It is not an option for the Hollands Noorderkwartier District Water Board (HHNK) for their sludge drying plant to be shut down for a lengthy period. This is why clear agreements have been reached with Van Beek to prevent this. Meanwhile the plant has already been operating at full speed for 5 years.

“Good cooperation”
Peter van der Stoop, technical assistant at HHNK, is very satisfied with the service provision that accompanies the contract. “I think our cooperation with Van Beek is very good, in case of problems they take appropriate action and the regular servicing is carried out to our satisfaction.”

The plant incorporates eight Van Beek and Celsius screw conveyors. There are two identical lines each with a cooling screw with twin screws and three screw conveyors. Dried hot sludge granules are brought in by the cooling screws. After cooling down the screw conveyors take the granules to a silo. The cooling prevents heating occurring in the silo.

Assured of functioning plant
“The HHNK wanted to be sure that the plant would continue operating “, says Téan van Horssen, service and after sales assistant with Van Beek. “If our screws stop, the whole plant stops because the granules cannot be stored safely.

It was no problem for us to give this guarantee. We know our machines and we know how they perform.” Van der Stoop confirmed this. “Van Beek has the know-how, experience and parts in-house to keep the plant in good condition.”

Clarity about costs
The service contract states when the bearings have to be replaced and when the services should be carried out. “This gives the client assurance and it is clear beforehand what costs we can expect “, explains Van Horssen.

The contract also states the minimum number of hours the plant should operate annually. “It is then up to us to ensure that this is also technically possible.”
