Siemens IA&DT pushes safety to the limit with new range

Listen to this article

Compliance with industry standards, flexibility of design and easy connection are all requirements for the performance of industrial and safety limit switches. To meet these needs of plant operators, Siemens Industry Automation & Drive Technologies (IA&DT) has launched its first complete range.

Part of its Sirius family of solutions, the Siemens 3SE5 range features 92 product variants. It includes position, interlocking, hinge and RFID magnetic switches, which are used across many control applications for machinery safety. This includes the detection of hazardous machine part movements, the monitoring of protective guards and access control to Ple and SIL3.
For use throughout all industrial environments, Siemens 3SE5 range increases operational efficiency by ensuring the highest safety levels through the plant and reduces engineering time thanks to its innovative flexible modular design. For example, the replacement of actuator heads is a quick process due to its plug-in technique.
Importantly, the range is compliant with EN ISO 13849 and EN 62061, as well as safety requirements Ple and SIL3. It also fully adheres to the requirements of the newly implemented Machinery Directive.
Paul Hingley, safety and condition monitoring manager for Siemens IA&DT, comments: “The project to design, develop and manufacture our range of industrial and safety limit switches has been in development for a number of years, as we wanted to ensure our offering to the marketplace was right – so it’s great to now be able to offer it to customers. Importantly, the range has been established to not only perform to the highest safety levels but to ensure compliance with the necessary industry regulations, including the new Machinery Directive and its harmonised standards.”
The Siemens 3SE5 range can be fully integrated with the plant and is supported by Siemens’ comprehensive service and support network. The 3SE5 range can be viewed online along with Siemens complete Sirius safety range, click here.
