Moulton Bulb, one of the UK’s largest suppliers of onions, garlic and shallots, has installed LINKFRESH supply chain software to aid its growth strategy.
Moulton Bulb, which supplies more than 1,700 tonnes of onions each week to UK retailers, has deployed LINKFRESH Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software to drive the business forward and simplify its production process.
The onion supplier turned to LINKFRESH to provide an integrated IT solution which would streamline its entire process to quicken traceability, produce more in-depth reports, modernise its produce booking systems and increase mobile visibility of factory performance. Historically the firm had been reliant on many paper-based processes.
Running on the Microsoft Dynamics® platform, LINKFRESH ERP informs all operational aspects of Moulton Bulb including finance, planning and forecasting, live inventory management, packing centre management, warehouse operations, delivery schedules and logistics. The solution also provides state of the art mobility applications for stock management, quality control, intake, picking, dispatch and label printing, as well as a touch screen user interface.
Robert Oldershaw Jr, director of Moulton Bulb, said: “LINKFRESH has brought everything together in our business. Previously there was limited visibility of products on the site which made controlling up to 1,000 bins of 50 different products across 20 warehouse locations difficult. Now we have live, real time stock location information which has solved stock rotation issues, reduced waste and greatly assisted stock control.
“I now feel we are more professional and robust in our approach and our interaction with suppliers and customers and we’ve actually got to know our own business a lot better. The information we now have at our fingertips and systems we have in place will help us grow the business.”
Robert Frost, CEO of LINKFRESH, said: “Moulton Bulb is a business which is really growing, working with retailers including Asda, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Co-operative Food and Iceland Foods it suppliers more than 25% of the UK’s supermarket requirement. The LINKFRESH ERP system will help the business reach the next level of growth through providing insight into its operations and equipping Moulton Bulb with the tools to manage all aspects of the supply chain from field to fork.”
