The TTE Technical Training Group and the Academy of Joint Integrity welcomed North East England-based engineers to a specialist Joint Integrity training and information workshop.
The event provided engineers and technicians who operate in the process and offshore energy sectors an insight into the benefits of a new range of specialist training programmes raising awareness of bolted joint techniques
TTE recently formed a new alliance with the Academy of Joint Integrity to enhance the range of accredited skills development programmes for engineers and technicians living or working in the North East.
Delegates were given a hands-on practical demonstration using the Academy’s Flange Assembly Demonstration Unit. The demonstration highlighted the importance of correct bolting procedures through the Academy’s clear, easy to interpret load monitoring software.
The question and answer session stimulated discussion between delegates operating in different sectors raising further awareness of the importance of having a systematic approach to correct bolting procedures.
The new range of short courses will be delivered by Academy personnel at TTE’s training facility in Middlesbrough. The courses are designed to assess competence and provide up to date information in relation to joint integrity.
Accredited by the Energy Institute, and ECITB, courses focus on specific areas of pipeline integrity. Subjects range from the assembly and tightening of bolted flange connections, using hand and hydraulic equipment to the management of joint integrity for pressurised systems. Courses can be mixed and matched for a tailored approach, if required.
The training will take place in TTE’s recently refurbished Dorman Long Building, which is utilised by skilled technicians from the UK and overseas to work towards respected industry-relevant qualifications.
John Taylor, Business Development Manager at The TTE Technical Training Group, said: “The event set out the latest accredited training programmes available at TTE to support engineers in the process and offshore industries demonstrate the skills and competencies required to ensure pipeline integrity using bolted joint techniques.
Alex Lattimer, Commercial Director for The Academy of Joint Integrity, said: “We are pleased to be able to bring these specialist courses to the North East with the support of TTE. This event provided a useful platform for engineers and training professionals to discuss issues facing their specialist disciplines in industry and how these programmes can support the important role they play.”
