Twice the Acceleration of a Jet Fighter – Electric Actuators Increase Machine Speed, Control and Energy Savings!

Listen to this article

The UK’s biggest pneumatic products and process systems distributor, Thorite, has produced a new online leaflet called Serious About Electric Actuators, which highlights the incredible performance of these machine control units – with purchase costs now as low as pneumatic cylinders.

Thorite now stocks market-leading electric actuators from Festo, Parker, SMC and Linak. Electric drive offers up to 10m/sec maximum speed and acceleration of 125m/sec² (more than twice the speed of a jet fighter) for hugely increased processing performance.

Machine control is also boosted, as the actuators can be positioned to 0.003mm with infinitely variable positioning, whilst an integrated encoder ensures constant and accurate position feedback. But the benefits don’t stop there, as electric drives also provide simple installation, true “plug’n’play” convenience and easy programming.

Best of all, electric actuators offer 80% efficiency, compared with only 15% efficiency for pneumatic cylinders, typically resulting in ELECTRICITY SAVINGS OF 50%!

Advice and help on selecting the best electric actuation for specific applications is available from Martyn Allatt and Mike Perry who make up Thorite’s Automation Applications Team and they can be contacted by email or on freephone 0800 034 2511. The actuators can be ordered from any of Thorite’s ten regional branches in Blackburn, Bolton, Bradford, Doncaster, Huddersfield, Leeds, Rochdale, Sheffield, North Shields and the West Midlands.

The new leaflet and links to videos showing electric actuation technology in action is available now to download from the Thorite website at www.thorite.co.uk
