24 Heat Exchangers Installed at Process Technology Company

Listen to this article

Leading UK heat exchanger manufacturer European Heathyards has forged new links within the mining and iron ore industries following the recent completion of 24 heat exchanger units for an international process technology company

The manufacturing process has occupied more than 40,000 man hours over a 52 week period at European Heathyards, West Midlands based,  110,000 sq ft site.

The heat exchanger units vary in size, with the largest measuring 4.5m x 3.5m x 8.0m, and weighing in excess of 35,000kg.

Each Heat Exchanger has been manufactured from stainless steels (grade 304H and 310H) and Incoloy (grade 800HT).  These specialist units are used to exchange heat within the direct reduction of iron ore and have been manufactured and quality tested in accordance with ASME V111, DIVISION 1 and ASME U-Stamp. The finished Heat Exchangers have been inspected by Lloyds Register and SQS.

As European Heathyards specialise in high integrity fabrication, welding & tube manipulation and along with its 100 tonne crane lifting capacity, 60,000 sq ft of manufacturing space and ability to operate round the clock are key factors to enable the pressure vessel manufacturer to secure further contracts according to Operations Director Craig Nash.

“European Heathyards have an excellent reputation for manufacturing large scale pressure vessel parts.  The hard work that has been put in to achieve ASME U-stamp accreditation demonstrates our commitment to invest in both our plant and our workforce to meet the demands of the process plant, power generation and petrochemical industries”
