ESAB Cutmaster® 40 Plasma Cutter Delivers Unprecedented Mobility And Power
ESAB Welding & Cutting Products has introduced its new Cutmaster® 40 manual plasma cutting system. It weighs 10 kg, offers a rated output of 40 amps at 35 percent duty-cycle and delivers a recommended cut and pierce capacity on 12 mm steel and can sever steel up to 16 mm. It uses 200 – 240VAC ± 10 percent main power and can run off a generator with at least 8kW.
The unit is designed for autobody repair and restoration, mobile fabrication, light construction, plumbing and HVAC, metal/building/roofing, maintenance/repair, agricultural and ornamental work.
“Head-to-head evaluations against leading competitors confirmed that the Cutmaster 40 delivers superior cutting performance and unprecedented power and mobility,” says Kris Scherm, Global Manual Plasma Business & Product Director, ESAB. “The arc stretch enables the unit to maintain cutting performance while cutting in tight corners or working unusual positions.”
The Cutmaster 40 features a rugged, weather-proof (IP23 rated) three-handle case that better protects the unit, especially during transportation in the back of a work truck. The handles make it easier to move the unit in tight quarters, as well as help organise the cables.
The Cutmaster 40 comes with the proven SL60 1Torch™ with 5 m torch lead. Further, because it uses ATC® torch connection (standard on all Cutmaster units), users can connect an additional 7.6 m of torch lead. The work cable uses a standard 50 mm dinse connection, while the robust work clamp creates a strong electrical connection.
“We designed the torch and work cables to disconnect in seconds, which improves cable management when moving the unit,” adds Scherm. “Also, because these items can get damaged, the quick disconnect design makes them easily replaceable.”
The SL60 1Torch comes with the Cutmaster Black Series electrodes, which extend operating life by up to 60 percent. As a result, they lower cutting cost and downtime, as well as maintain cut performance over a longer time period.
A More Powerful Option
For those who need to cut thicker metal (up to 38 mm) or need a higher duty cycle, ESAB offers the more powerful Cutmaster 60i.
“At 16.8kgs, the Cutmaster 60i already offered the best power-to-weight ratio on the market. With the Cutmaster Black Series consumables, this 60-amp unit is even more of a cutting beast,” says Kris Scherm, Global Manual Plasma Business & Product Director, ESAB. “With Cutmaster Black Series consumables, users will enjoy lower overall operating costs through extended electrode life and obtain more quality cuts per electrode.”
For users who want the flexibility to connect a Cutmaster 60i to a cutting table for semiautomated air plasma cutting, ESAB now offers the MechPak mechanised package. MechPak comes with everything users need to get started, including an SL100 mechanised 1Torch with a 7.6 m or 15.2 m cable, remote pendant, lead with ATC® Torch Connection and consumables.
“The MechPak features a power connector for a start/stop trigger integrated with the ATC Torch Connection,” says Scherm. “Typically applications would include pairing the Cutmaster 60i and MechPak with an ESAB Miggytrac™ or Railtrac™ tractor for semiautomatic cutting, beveling or plasma gouging.”
