Quality British Pump Manufacturing on Show

Reliability and efficiency are two words that SPP Pumps expects to be hearing frequently on its stand at this year’s Telford Pump Centre Conference and Exhibition … where the company’s mission will be to showcase the best of its British manufactured pumps, and demonstrate its ethos of listening to, understanding and providing the best solutions for customers.

Martin Bagg, Head of SPP’s Water Division, explains: “Our heritage for manufacturing in Britain, as well as listening carefully to customers, is a vital part of our approach to meeting their needs. Once we fully understand their challenges and priorities we can set about analysing their situation and coming up with the best solution. Pumps used in the water industry need to be capable of running efficiently and reliably, 24/7, and by taking all factors into account we can make sure they perform as they should, where it really matters.”

The event, billed as the UK’s premier pump conference and exhibition, will be held at the International Centre in Telford on 14th May. It will focus mainly on the water industry and will draw together those with an interest in pumping systems – including users, contractors, consultants, manufacturers, component suppliers and service providers.

As a leading manufacturer and global supplier of centrifugal pumps and systems, SPP will lead a breakout session on pump maintenance in the water industry. This will run twice – morning and afternoon – and will give practical advice to address challenges such as minimising downtime, maximising efficiency, driving down maintenance costs and formalising framework agreements.

SPP’s stand will feature water pumping products, along with test equipment for assessing energy efficiency, and there will be further advice on servicing and maintenance.

Interest in pump efficiency is very understandable, as BPMA (British Pump Manufacturers’ Association) figures show that pumps account for 13% of the UK’s total annual electrical consumption. SPP will demonstrate that its pumps save energy and reduce CO2, so customers enjoy lower electricity bills and avoid emissions levies. Further sources of cost savings are reduced routine maintenance and downtime. SPP’s ‘Lowest Lifecycle Cost’ range of pumps, of which examples will be exhibited, offers energy savings of up to 5% a year compared to conventional competitive units.

SPP says the reliability of its pump systems is built on high-quality British engineering. At its base in Colefield, Gloucestershire, a team of highly skilled and experienced engineers carries out all of the necessary R&D work and manufactures each pump system to meet the specific requirements of the customer’s application. They are fully tested before being delivered, on time, and are backed by lifetime support that includes supply of OEM specification spares, emergency repairs, contractual maintenance, training and technical performance analysis.

Martin Bagg concludes: “The Pump Centre Conference gives us a really good opportunity to meet customers, network with industry colleagues, while sharing our knowledge. We look forward to some very interesting and useful discussions on stand S23.
