Siemens UK & Ireland has enhanced its Sinema Server software with a new V13 release. The update expands upon Sinema’s existing capabilities, offering manufacturers an easier way to monitor even very large networks.
Sinema Server V13 gives an overview of all device statuses at once and is now capable of supporting networks of up to 50,000 nodes. V13 automatically detects all Profinet and Ethernet devices within a network, and displays them in a web browser. It can also communicate directly with Simatic Controllers and connected Profinet devices. The software facilitates the early detection of potential faults so preventative action can be taken and, consequently, downtime is reduced.
Data is stringently evaluated through SNMP or by using Profinet mechanisms to directly access devices. V13 is also engineered to cope with the demands of field automation: the software supports dynamic topologies, as well as detailed configuration of various redundancy protocols. In addition, logical sub-networks such as VLAN or RSTP are read, diagnosed and clearly visualised to allow transparent diagnostics in areas where IT networks and automation are connected.
Acquired data is archived and can be reported on extensively. This enables maintenance teams to determine the causes of historical events and prevent future errors. The obtained network diagnosis can be seamlessly integrated into HMI/SCADA systems (such as Simatic WinCC) by using OPC and web mechanisms. There is also an interface which exports data to Excel or a script-based system, meaning data can be evaluated and further processed according to customer requirements.
