ABB’S SIX-STAGE EVOLUTION FOR LIFE PROGRAMME
Evolution for Life is a six-stage programme designed to enable a company’s automation systems to evolve over time, cost-effectively. The programme optimises the performance of the systems in place; extends their life span; and provides long term financial and operational benefits.
1) Identifying business goals: By working together with the client, ABB identifies key business drivers. Activities from energy saving, regulations, productivity programmes to plant maintenance are reviewed.
2) Analysis of the installed systems: The current automation system is checked including configuration, performance and status. Life cycle of the current system is determined.
3) Assess ABB’s offering: ABB’s latest offerings are reviewed against the client’s current automation system to identify what could benefit the client most. Plan and audit report are presented to the client detailing recommendations, technical and financial aspects.
4) Develop long- and short-term technical and commercial plans: Evolution for Life programme is produced based on the above steps to meet the clients’ business goals within the agreed timeframe.
5) The detailed plans/schedules discussed above are customised for the plant in question and the Evolution for Life programme is then implemented.
6) Continuous re-evaluation of business needs and solutions: This is the most crucial stage. Programme is supported throughout its lifetime; updated and renewed continuously to ensure system remains current with the required functionality.
